Consultation between school districts and Tribes is an enhanced form of communication that emphasizes trust, respect, and shared responsibility. True and effective consultation will result in information exchange, mutual understanding, and informed decision-making that will benefit all of the students in a school district. Here in Oregon, all districts receiving Title Grant awards of more than $40,000 for Title IV, or who have over 50% native student enrollment, must engage in Tribal consultation.

The following professional development video discusses the history of the Cow Creek people with emphasis on lifeways practiced by the Tribes. In addition to this cultural background piece, you will hear from both young and old Tribal members who describe their personal experiences in the public school system.
